I’m Dr. Bettina, a Clinical Audiologist, and I’m excited to share my journey and qualifications with you.
My academic foundation was established at the prestigious UCL Ear Institute, where I completed my clinical audiology qualifications. Building upon this strong foundation, I pursued a Doctorate in Audiology from a renowned American university located in Florida.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of gaining extensive experience in audiology management and rehabilitation, working in both the UK’s private sector and the National Health Service (NHS). My expertise encompasses a broad spectrum, ranging from providing audiological care to adults to specialized services for children.
Some of my notable roles include serving as a Pediatric Audiologist at the esteemed Great Ormond Street Hospital and as the Adult Lead Audiologist at Kingston Hospital. Currently, I have the honour of being the Lead Audiologist for The School Screening Programme. In this capacity, my primary focus is on early identification of hearing issues in children, ensuring they embark on their educational journeys with the best possible auditory support.
My passion for audiology was ignited by personal experience. As a parent, I encountered the challenges of managing my own son’s profound deafness, initially misdiagnosed. This journey compelled me to become a well-informed audiologist and a vocal advocate for parents facing similar situations. I’m deeply committed to increasing deaf awareness, particularly within educational settings.
My dedication to the field extends to hosting a masterclass at UCL, dedicated to supporting children with cochlear implants. I’m also an active member of the Cochlear Implant Children’s Support Group (CICS), where I contribute my insights and experiences to benefit the community.
To ensure comprehensive audiological assessments, I’ve undergone specialized training as a healthcare provider in micro-suction techniques, certified by TympaHealth and Clearwax. This ensures that earwax-related concerns never hinder my diagnostic assessments.
My professional qualifications are underscored by my status as a qualified Doctor of Audiology, a clear Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certification, and registration with esteemed bodies such as the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (RCCP).
I’m truly dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with hearing impairments, and I’m excited to bring my expertise to those I serve.
